This Privacy Notice for Merged ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we collect, use, and share your personal information when you use our mobile application (the "Services"), including when you:
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have questions, contact us at support@getmerged.app
What personal information do we process? Depending on how you use Merged, we may process your name, email address, profile photo, and onboarding responses such as relationship type, relationship duration, and age range.
Do we process any sensitive personal information? We do not collect or ask for your sexual orientation, sex life, racial or ethnic origin, or religious beliefs. Some in-app content categories you freely choose to engage with may relate to relationship intimacy, but we do not use this to infer or store any special-category classification about you.
Do we collect information from third parties? No. All personal information is collected directly from you or generated by your use of the Services.
How do we process your information? We process your information to provide and improve Merged, personalize your experience, communicate with you, and for security and fraud prevention. We only process your information when we have a valid legal reason to do so.
In what situations and with which parties do we share personal information? We share information with our service providers — Supabase (backend and database), PostHog (analytics), and Apple/Google (sign-in) — and, only when you choose to share a question card, with Instagram or your device's native share sheet.
How do we keep your information safe? We use appropriate organizational and technical measures to protect your personal information, though no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
What are your rights? Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may give you rights over your personal information, including access, correction, and deletion.
How do you exercise your rights? The easiest way is by contacting us at support@getmerged.app. We will consider and act on any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us. The personal information we collect may include the following:
When you complete onboarding, you may also provide a relationship type (e.g. dating, engaged, married, friends), relationship duration, and age range for yourself and your partner. Only your own name is stored on our servers; other onboarding answers, including any partner name, remain on your device and are used only to personalize your in-app experience.
Sensitive Information. We do not process sensitive personal information such as racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health data, or sexual orientation.
Payment Data. We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you choose to make in-app purchases, such as your payment instrument number and the security code associated with your payment instrument. All payment data is handled and stored by Apple. You may find their privacy notice here: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/pdfs/apple-privacy-policy-en-ww.pdf.
Social Media Login Data. We provide you with the option to register or sign in using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. If you choose to register this way, we will collect certain profile information about you from that provider, typically your name and email address, as described under "How Do We Handle Your Social Logins?" below.
Application Data. If you use our application, we may collect the following information if you choose to grant us access or permission:
This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our application, for troubleshooting, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.
All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.
We automatically collect certain information when you use the Services through our analytics provider, PostHog. This includes device and usage information such as your IP address, device and operating system information, and information about how you navigate and interact with the app (such as screens viewed and features used). This information is primarily used to maintain the security and operation of our Services and for internal analytics and reporting.
Log and Usage Data. Service-related, diagnostic, and performance information our analytics provider automatically collects when you use the Services, including your activity in the app, device event information, and network request metadata.
Session Replay. Where enabled, PostHog may record a replay of your on-screen activity to help us diagnose bugs and understand how the app is used. Text you type into input fields is masked and not visible in these recordings; images displayed on screen are not masked.
Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, and for security and fraud prevention. We process your information only when we have a valid legal reason to do so.
We only process your personal information when we believe it is necessary and we have a valid legal reason to do so under applicable law, like with your consent, to comply with laws, to provide you with services, to protect your rights, or to fulfill our legitimate business interests.
If you are located in the EU or UK, the GDPR and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on, which may include your consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, or vital interests.
If you are located in Canada, we may process your information with your express or implied consent, or in certain exceptional cases permitted by applicable law, such as investigations and fraud prevention. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the specific situations described below and with the following service providers.
We use PostHog to understand how Merged is used. This includes capturing app usage events, such as which screens you visit and which features you use, and, where session replay is enabled, a recording of your on-screen activity. Text typed into input fields is masked and not visible in these recordings; other on-screen content, including images, is not masked.
Our Services allow you to register and log in using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. Where you choose to do this, we will receive certain profile information from that provider. Typically your name and email address. We will use this information only for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice. We do not control, and are not responsible for, Apple's or Google's own use of your information. We recommend reviewing their privacy notices directly.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this notice, which in most cases is the period of time in which you have an account with us. You can delete your account and data at any time from within the app, under Profile → Delete Account. You can also request deletion by contacting us at support@getmerged.app.
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.
By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18, or the equivalent age of majority in your jurisdiction. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a user under 18, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under 18, please contact us at support@getmerged.app

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account, you can update your name and profile photo directly within the app, under Profile. You can delete your account at any time from within the app, under Profile → Delete Account, which permanently deletes your account and information from our active databases (we may retain some information as required to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, or comply with legal requirements). You can also contact us at support@getmerged.app to request deletion.
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized, and we do not currently respond to DNT signals.
